Dear church family,

After extensive prayer and discussion, our church staff and leadership team has decided that in the spirit of wisdom and prudence, we will be cancelling our Sunday services. This decision was not made lightly, and we understand that some of you will be disappointed, but our church leadership believes this to be the greatest witness of genuine love for our congregation and community. They care for you too much to put you at risk. The federal health officials are recommending that any gatherings are limited to no more than 10 people. Cancelling activities and not gathering in groups is currently a major tool we have to help slow the spread of the virus and avoid overwhelming our medical system. Our church is committed to doing its part to help in whatever way we can. We are discussing alternatives to our regular worship practices, including possibly live streamed sermons and virtual meeting options. Please stay tuned and bear with us as we navigate these uncharted waters.

We want to encourage you to keep being the Church, even if we can’t meet in the church building. This is an amazing opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the world. In Philippians 2:4 we are called to “not look only to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Here’s a list of some ways that you can be a blessing: call and chat, pick up and deliver groceries or medications, walk the dog, babysit the kids, help with schoolwork, lend a book, make a meal, send a card. Help them set up video call and let your kids put on a show, or read a bedtime story. There’s a lot of technology currently available that can help us make sure that no one feels lonely and isolated at this time.

We want to help connect people with needs with people who want to serve. If you need help, or are able to serve, or you have ideas on how we can best support each other, contact Pastor Mark, Pastor Josh, or the church office. You can also look on Facebook for the new group we have set up specifically for this purpose. It is called “Upsala CCC Help Connection.” Please don’t be afraid to reach out and share your needs and concerns. We are here for you and want to make sure that we all get through this together.

Yours in Christ,

Latest Update From Church Leaders - 5/17/2020

Dear church family,

Due to restrictions put on places of Worship by the Governor, our first date for in-person worship service is tentatively set for June 7. Beginning May 18, the church will be open normal office hours and groups of 10 or less can request to use the church space. Feel free to contact the office or the Leadership Team with any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

The Leadership Team
